Installation Manual for Ford Ranger

A, Cautions:

1, Read this guide manual carefully before installation.

2, Check the panel and all the connecting points regularly to ensure they’re not loose, in order to guarantee using safety.

3, All the pictures in this manual are only for illustration reference, the real products might be different with the ones in the pictures, but the installation methods are the same.

4, Follow strictly the wire connecting diagram.

5, The Electric Control Unit (ECU) box can not be flushed by water or immersed in water, install the ECU box at a position where rain or car washing water hard to enter.

6, Avoid the engine shell, waste gas tube and other high temperature parts when install the ECU box and deploy the wires.

7, Make sure the cable is closely connected with the motor, and use electric tape to wrap it well to increase its waterproof capability.

B, Preparation Work:

1. Check if the product to be installed is good and complete, all the components required are complete.

2. Prepare installation tools

The L shape Bolt should be used with Plastic Washer. If the Chassis has two layers, make sure the L shape Bolt is placed upon the inner layer, or the installation will not be firm.

E, Electric Circuit Connecting

Plug in the OBD Extending Cable to the original car OBD plug, then connect the two wire signal cable in the main cable with the two wire signal cable in the OBD Extending Cable.

F. Installation Steps:

1, Check if all the components are complete according to the above Components List, test if the motor works well first.

2, Find the Front Left(FL), Front Right(FR), Rear Left(RL), Rear Right(RR) brackets respectively, place each bracket with fastening parts at its corresponding position, so the installation speed can be faster.

3, Insert the L Shape Bolt into Plastic Washer respectively to avoid carelessly lose the L Shape Bolt into the Car’s Chassis and can’t finish the installation.

4, Use Cable Tie to tie the cables, wrap well the exposed cable with electric tape and fix it, restore the Chassis protecting board to its original position (cut the part of the board where installed the brackets if necessary).

5, Installation is almost finished, check the above steps if any step has been ignored.

6, Congratulations! You’ve finished the installation!

H, FAQ about Electric Running Board

1,Q: How to raise the car after the Electric Running Board is installed?

A: Just find a hard metal part on the Chassis, don’t jack the brackets or the panels.

2,Q: The panel cannot extend after installation, what is the problem? How to solve it?

 A: Possible Problems: The Power cable is not well connected; the plug to the ECU is not well connected; magnetic sensor’s position is not matched with the magnetic iron’s position.  Solution: Check if all the plugs are well connected, Power cable line, Signal wires are connected correctly (easy to be connected reversely). For specific method, please refer to the above installation guide.

3, Q: What is the max weight one panel can bear?

A: 300 kilograms for one panel.

4, Q: The seam between the panel and the chassis is not even , how to solve this problem?

A: First, check if the Front and Rear Brackets are at the same horizontal line, then use U shape washer to adjust the balance of the Brackets. Contact our after-sales if there are still problems.

5,Q: The Electric Running Board is well installed, but there’s no anti-pinch function, when the foot is on it, it is still retracting, how to solve this problem, any wires connected mistakenly?

A: All our products are designed with anti-pinch and anti-collision function. The panel is retracting just because the resistance force is not strong enough, the panel only stops completely when it meets strong enough resistance. It has no relation with wire connection.

6,Q: When the panel is extended, it cannot be retracted, how to solve the problem?

A: Probably because the motor cable’s plug is not well connected, or the magnetic sensor’s position is not well matched with magnetic iron. Check if all the cables are well connected, if the magnetic sensor’s position is well matched with magnetic iron.

7,Q: After the Boards are installed, only one side can work well, the other side cannot work, how to solve the problem?

A: Ask the installation technician to check if all the cables are well connected, if all the nuts are tightened.

8,Q: What is the weight and width of the panel, what is the clearance between the panel and ground when the Boards is installed?

A: The whole set’s weight is about 30-35kg, each panel’s weight is 4.9-5.4kg, the panel’s width is 12 centimeters. Different car model’s clearance with Board installed is different. High Original Chassis provides high clearance after installation. Otherwise the clearance is lower.
